Greening the Delivery: A Low-Carbon Trip for Biochar Impact

Eco-friendly delivery is possible, and we can reduce our carbon footprint while on the road. Recently, ARTi members Domenika Fasce from the Sales Department and CEO Bernardo del Campo embarked on a low-impact journey to visit Ever-Green Biochar (also known as Ever-Green Landscape Construction Supply) in Cedar Rapids, IA. During the trip, they powered up an electric-powered pick-up truck with 65 kWh at a Supercharger, costing $27.90, and covered 391 miles while towing a 1-ton trailer, consuming a total of 225 kWh of electricity. The carbon footprint of the journey was about 293 lbs (133 kg) of CO2. However, the delivery itself helped offset this impact, as they transported 8 cubic yards of biochar, sequestering a total of 2.4 tons of CO2.
Greener trips can contribute to a more sustainable future! Biochar sequesters carbon by locking carbon-rich organic matter into a stable, solid form that resists decomposition for centuries, preventing it from re-entering the atmosphere as CO2.
